Two journalists arrested for spreading hatred in Tripura

Agartala, 17th November: Two Delhi-based journalists were arrested for spreading fake news and hatred in Tripura.

The Assam police department arrested them on the request of Tripura police

The Assam police immediately arrested the two journalists on the request of the Tripura police. The duo were arrested by the Assam police on Sunday. The two journalists were identified as Samriddhi K. Sakunia and Swarna Jha. They have been detained by Nilam Bazaar police station of Karimganj district in Assam on the request of the Tripura police.

A Tripura police team would bring them to the State. A statement by Tripura police on Sunday said the two journalists had come to Tripura on Thursday, and a case has been filed against them in the Kakraban Police Station on Sunday under various sections of IPC.

Various sections of the IPC have been imposed on the two journalists for “creation of hatred between communities by fabricating, concealing of record in furtherance of a criminal conspiracy as revealed from the Twitter posts by Samriddhi Sakunia”.
