Total shut down in Barak Valley due to Assam Mizoram border clash

Guwahati, 30th July: A complete shutdown is going to be initiated in the Barak Valley of Assam as a consequence of border clash in Assam Mizoram border. The incident of Mizoram Police opening fire in the clash led to the death of six Assam Police personnel is also the reason behind the Bandh.

The shut down of 12 hours has been successful

The shutdown at Barak valley was called by the Barak Democratic Front (BDF). The shutdown started at 5 am on Wednesday and will continue till 5pm. The shutdown is expected to continue for 12 hours. All the shopkeeper owners kept their shutters down in the three districts of Barak Valley such as Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj.

A deserted look has been seen in the three districts of Barak Valley

The citizens of Barak Valley supported the bandh. Streets in all the towns and villages of the three Barak Valley districts are wearing a deserted look. Both the states are going through High tension due to increasing border dispute in the Two States.

Assam chief minister has claimed the Mizoram government for the Bandh

Assam chief minister claimed that Mizoram Police had opened fire with light machine guns taking the lives of six Assam Police personnel and one civilian. The tension in the Assam Mizoram border area will not reduce until the Mizoram government is ready to cooperate.
