NIA court dismissed Akhil Gogoi’s UAPA’s case on anti CAA Activities

Guwahati, 23rd June: National Investigation Agency (NIA) court on Tuesday cleared Akhil Gogoi from the charge of involvement in anti CAA movement.

Akhil Gogoi was charged for two cases

Assam activist as well as MLA Akhil Gogoi was charged for involvement in anti CAA movement in the month of December of 2019. He was charged for two cases from which only one case was cleared on Tuesday. The two cases were registered in two different police stations of Guwahati and Dibrugarh.

Hearing of the second case is also going on

Akhil Gogoi’s counsel has told in front of the media, “Akhil has been discharged in one case. He will soon be free from the second case. The hearing and investigation on the other case is going on.” The NIA is doing further investigation on two cases related to the anti-CAA cases against Gogoi along with his associates.

Charge of sedition and UAPA are imposed on them

Gogoi has been suffering in jail since December, 2019. He was charged by the NIA on two cases. The two charges are respectively charge of sedition and under provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
