Gangtok, 12 th July: The Border Roads Organisation ( BRO) reported that the National Highway (NH-10) of Sikkim was blocked due to multiple landslides. As a consequence the national highway witnessed a massive traffic jam on Sunday.

Continuous heavy rainfall was reported as a reason for these multiple landslides in Sikkim. Even if BRO tried to control the traffic, the national highway remained completely blocked during the daytime.
A score of cars stuck at roadway due to massive landslides
People faced a lot of problems being stuck at arterial roadways in the 29th-mile stretch area in West Bengal situated between the Teesta and Rambi rivers. This place connects Sikkim with the rest of India. The place is already prone to landslides during monsoon season and specially the stretch area of 29th mile faces a lot of landslides.
Sikkim faced landslides due to heavy rainfall during last one week
Sikkim has been witnessing heavy rainfall during the last one week and this triggered massive landslides leading to traffic jams in the national highway (NH-10) area. The Sikkim government has assured the citizens that preventive measures will be taken as soon as possible to solve the traffic jam issues in the national highway area.
