Manipur: Man gets arrested for spreading wrong information on Covid-19 vaccination

Manipur, 20th June: Manipur police arrested a 41 year old man for spreading wrong information on social media. He was accused for uploading videos including wrong information on covid-19 vaccination and wearing of mask during the pandemic situation.

The accused is under police custody

The police informed that the name of the accused person was Khoisnam Shantikumar of Lairenjam Awang. Khoisnam was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Imphal. He was sent to police custody till 22nd June as per the order of Chief Judicial Magistrate.

Uploading videos over WhatsApp and Facebook including wrong information The reason behind arresting him was uploading videos on Facebook and WhatsApp with the bad intention of spreading wrong news on covid-19 vaccination. He was charged under Section 505(1)(b)/505(2)/34 of the Indian Penal Code as well as Section 3 of the Pandemic Diseases Act, 1897.

Police is still doing investigation

Further investigations are also going on to know whether any other associate is involved with the accused person. The CM of Imphal has informed that strict actions will be taken against the person who will be found involved in spreading wrong information over social media.
