Guwahati, 6th July: The population explosion in Assam has affected its development to a great extent. The threat of population explosion will need to be managed very soon.
Assam needs population control for development
Otherwise Assam will not be able to become one of the top five states in the country. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Sunday, “Indigenous Muslims also agreed with the fact that population control is mandatory.”
150 indigenous Muslims were present in the program
The CM was addressing a press conference in Guwahati where he met more than 150 indigenous Muslim personalities. The indigenous Muslim belonged to various professional areas. The discussion was on the socio-economic issues of the community.
“Alaap Alochona” was held to know the thoughts of Indigenous Muslims
A program titled ‘Alaap Alochana – Empowering the Religious Minorities’ was held for getting a clear idea about the thoughts of indigenous muslims.
Muslims constitute 34.2 percent of Assam’s 3.12 crore population according to the census of 2011. The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sharma has emphasized on maintaining decent family planning norms. The current two child policy of the state will also be beneficial to reduce the population in Assam.
