Independent Inquiry Committee is formed in Meghalaya to protest against alleged anomalies

Shillong, 7th July: The Government of Meghalaya has constituted an inquiry committee for the investigation of the alleged scams in the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL).

Members involved in the committee are announced

The Home Department of Meghalaya has announced the names of the members of the inquiry committee. They will submit its final report within three months from the date of the notification.

Many eminent personalities are involved in this procurement

It is also informed that the retired judge of Allahabad High Court Justice Ifaqat Ali Khan, Retired IAS Manoj Kumar along with retired Executive Director of Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) Sunil Kumar will look into this matter of corruption filed against the MeECL.

Major issues will be taken into consideration

All major issues will be investigated by the department including fairness in framing tender clauses and the tender terms and conditions. The committee will look into probes made under Externally Aided Projects (EAPs). Besides this, the committee will also make a verification if MeECL is complying with the governing procedures. The CM has assured that preventive measures will be taken as soon as possible so that the situation can come into control.
