Half a Lakh cases : Manipur still finding its way to recovery from the pandemic.

The second wave of Covid-19 has been lethal for India. However, subsequently, the surge has started to back off. However, the condition is not the same everywhere, especially Northeast. Manipur is still finding its way to recovery from the pandemic. The state has crossed the mark of 50,000 total cases in the state.

n May 30, the state observed 869 new cases of the virus making the tally go up to 50,751 cases. 14 people were reported to succumb to the disease making the death toll number reach 807.

While the new cases continue to rise, the recovery rate in the state has bowed down to 81.08%. Imphal West and Imphal East come across as the worst-hit areas due to the pandemic.

 

The test positivity ratio has climbed up to more than 18 percent in the state which stood at 11 percent at the beginning of the month.

 

Amid all the chaos, the government is taking steps to curb down the surge in cases. Mass testing is being carried out in the state. The lockdown has already been imposed in the city. Also, an oxygen plant has been inaugurated to be installed at the Thoubal district hospital complex on May 31st, 2021.
