Dulal Manki from tea tribe community awarded Padma Shri Award

Guwahati, 11th November: Noted singer belonging to tea tribe community, Jhumoir Samrat Dulal Manki was awarded Padma Award. The award was given by President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday.

The singer has a great contribution for folk music

He was given this award in recognition of his immense contributions toward folk music especially those that belong to tea-tribes community of Assam. Earlier he was awarded the Jhumoir Guru title by Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Santiniketan, Kolkata as a ‘Guru-Sishya parampara’ and was awarded cash award of Rs 1.37 lak.

He is also associated with Sangeet Natak Academy and organized many cultural workshops on its behalf before. He will perform in Bikaner in Rajasthan to showcase the rich tea culture of Assam on 19th November.

The citizens of Assam are very much proud of Dulal Manki

Dulal sings both classical and modern songs. However his thirst area is folk music especially Jhumoir which is the folk song of the tea- tribes community of Assam. The Assam Government as well as citizens are proud of the great singer.
