CM of Assam requests PM Modi to transfer ONGC’s operation areas of Northeast to OIL

Guwahati, 24th June: Assam CM Himanta biswa Sarma has written a letter to PM Modi requesting him to transfer all the areas of ONGC in the Northeastern region to Oil India Limited. In this letter Mr Sharma stated that both ONGC and OIL are major players in the hydrocarbon industry of North eastern states. He said ” The responsibility of operation at under production areas are also given to the two major companies.”

OIL is the company rooted in Assam

According to the CM, the responsibility of operation could only be transferred to one major company preferably OIL. It is a leading company in the Northeast region and almost all the production of the company comes from North eastern states.

He requested PM Modi, “OIL is a company rooted in the north east. Hence the company can easily understand the problems of local people and solve them accordingly. I will therefore request you to look into this matter and transfer ONGC’s operation acreages to OIL.”

Giving all the responsibility to OIL will be beneficial for northeast region

The company has more than 90% employees from the North East region and it will be easier for the company to give undivided attention to the operation areas. Approval of PM Modi is highly sought by the Assam government
