Assam:Sali paddy seeds sowing ceremony was held in Bongaigaon

Bongaigaon, 4th July: The ceremonial of paddy seed sowing was held in Bongaigaon. The ceremony was held mainly for raising the community nursery of Sali paddy in the district.

MLA and deputy commissioner of Bongaigaon were present in the cerme

Bongaigaon MLA Phani Bhusan Choudhury and Bongaigaon Deputy Commissioner Dr M S Lakshmi Priya were present during the Sali paddy seeds growing ceremony which was held on Saturday.

Due to flood, the paddy seedlings were damaged

A large amount of seedlings of paddy were damaged due to heavy rain and flood in the state. Keeping the factors in mind, the Assam government decided to compensate the farmers by growing the seedlings of paddy. As a consequence, the District Agriculture department has started sowing of Sali paddy seeds under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana.

Community nursery will be raised

Community nursery will be raised of Sali paddy seedlings in 85 hectares of land in Bongaigaon district and 12 points were chosen by the authority for the sowing of paddy. Two varieties of paddy such as Bina-11 and Bahadur sub- 1 were chosen for sowing of paddy seedlings across 2.5 hectares of land.
