Assam govt turn over Rs 500 cr to Oil India Ltd to improve its growth in Numaligarh Refinery

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma turned over the check to the Chairman & Handling Director of OIL, Sushil Chandra Sarma. With this, share of Assam federal government in NRL has enhanced upto 26 percent from its previous 12.35 percent.


The Chief Minister termed the day as a historic one as the Refinery, substantiated of Assam, could be taken care of to keep its public market characteristic. About OIL India Limited, the Chief Minister revealed that production of each and every single decline of oil by the firm would add in the growth of the state. He mentioned that the equilibrium quantity of rupees 1,187 crore to OIL would certainly be paid by the month of September this year.


Sarma said that as the then state Money Minister, he had actually approached Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan with the issue, who had recommended that the state federal government pay a token quantity while OIL will certainly transfer the staying amount with the Centre.

“We had actually paid Rs 500 crore in March and also Rs 500 crore today while the remaining Rs 1,150 crore will be gotten rid of by September and the state government will now have 26 per cent share in NRL”, he stated.

Sarma said that NRL was a very important organisation for the state government as it was a refinery set up under the arrangements of the Assam Accord and has an emotional connect with individuals of the state.
