Assam :Government launches a special scheme for increasing the productions of speciality tea

Guwahati, 5th July: The Assam Government launched the Assam Team Industries Special Incentive Scheme (ATISIS), 2020 in a ceremonial program on Sunday. Extension of incentives to the tea gardens will help the farmers to produce a large amount of orthodox tea or speciality tea.

The scheme will be applicable for three years

The tea manufacturing units which are involved with the production of orthodox tea or speciality tea will only come under this scheme. The scheme will be applicable for only three years.

The tea gardeners will get a lot of subsidies

It is known the government will provide interest subsidy of 3% on working capital loan per annum for a maximum of Rs 20 lakh. 25% subsidy will be given for orthodox and speciality tea units for machinery and plants to maximum of Rs 30 lakh. Besides this agriculture income tax holiday will also be provided under the scheme for three years.

Assam CM is very hopeful about the scheme

While launching the scheme, Assam chief minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “The scheme will be helpful for the tea gardens to overcome the stressed situation. There will also be a balance between the production of CTC tea and orthodox tea”.
