Assam CM unveils the statue of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee

Guwahati, 8th July: The statue of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was unveiled on Tuesday by the CM of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma. 

Introduction of Assamese language in Calcutta University was done by Dr Mukherjee

During the program, CM said, ” Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was a great lover of Assam and his contribution towards introducing Assamese language in the state cannot be forgotten. He also introduced the study of Assamese language in Calcutta University where he also served as vice-chancellor.” 

The statue was unveiled on the 120th birth anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee

Dr Mukherjee was the founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangha which can be said to be the predecessor to the Bharatiya Janata Party. Mr Sharma unveiled the statue of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee at Barpeta road on Tuesday on the occasion of his 120th birth anniversary. The program was held in the presence of minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass. 

Many internal problems of Assam were also solved by the nationalist

The CM also added that without the contribution of the nationalist Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, it would not be possible to save Assam from merging with East Pakistan. The contribution of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee in the development of Assam should be known by every citizen of the state.
