Assam: CM announces police shoot-out ‘should be the pattern’ if accused try to flee

Guwahati, 7th July: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday announced that shooting at criminals “should be the pattern” if they attempt to flee from custody. The same should be done with them if they try to snatch arms from the police.

Rising number of encounters are asserted by the CM

A rising number of encounters are showing that anti-social activities are increasing in the state. At least a dozen of suspected criminals were shot dead by the Assam Police as they tried to escape from custody.

Encounters are becoming essential in the State.

Without addressing the encounters, it was not possible to control the situation in Assam. The CM totally agreed with the decisions of the state police. Managing the criminal activities in the state is not possible without taking strict decisions.

The opposition team protested against the approach of Assam police

The opposition gave a negative response and alleged that Assam Police had turned “trigger happy” under the regime of Himanta Biswa Sarma. However, the police refused the charge and claimed that the criminals forced the police department to take such actions.
