Assam CM announces government jobs for the medalists of Olympics, Asian games and Commonwealth

Guwahati, 30th July: The Assam government has decided to provide class I government jobs to the medalists of Olympics, Commonwealth and Asian Games from Assam.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the news on Wednesday

This decision was taken as a part of the Cabinet decisions taken in a meeting led by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday. He has also announced that the monthly pension of the sports person will be increased from Rs 8000 to Rs 10,000.

Medal winners of commonwealth and Asian games will also get benefits

The Cabinet has made the decision to provide Sports Pension to the medal winners of Commonwealth and National Games. Moreover, the Cabinet has  decided to appoint a Police Commission. The Commission will be headed by Retired IAS Officer Himangshu Shekhar DAS, and former DGP PV Sumant. He will head the Commission for three months to monitor the issues and take measures for the improvement of sports activities in the state. He will also be responsible for making and improving the policies related to sports.

The Assam CM has expected increased motivation in the sports persons as a result of this announcement

It is expected that this will increase the enthusiasm and motivation of the sports person to be more dedicated to the national championships.
