Guwahati, 9th July: Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) made almost 326 raids against illegal power connections and anti theft. Besides this, APDCL also stopped power supply to 1790 consumers from the first week of July until the dues would be cleared by the consumers.
Operations are still going on to find out the default connections
One of the APDCL officials said, “Operations are on to collect the power bills from the defaulters as soon as possible. 28 power-theft cases were detected and eight FIRs were filed among the 66 raids made at Guwahati Electrical Circle-1(GEC-I) in the month of June, 2021.
APDCL found more than 6024 illegal connections
Almost 6024 power connections were disconnected after finding that either they are illegal connections or the bills are overdue. It is found that all the individuals together have a pending amount of about 54 Lakhs.
Almost 5266 disconnections were made in GEC- II
Meanwhile, altogether 261 raids were conducted in June, 2021 at Guwahati Electrical Circle-2 ( GEC-II). As a result of these raids, 138 power-theft cases were detected and 47 FIRs were lodged. A total of 5,266 connections were disconnected and at this time, the pending amount was more than Rs 3 Crore.
