The sale of Liquor astonished the government
Liquor shops which faced losses last year due to COVID-induced lockdown, have finally got a reason to celebrate this Diwali. The sale of alcohol witnessed a massive jump in the city.
The liquor shops sold a huge amount of liquor on consecutive two days
According to reports, Alcohol worth Rs 5 crore was sold on the occasion of Diwali on November 4th and 5th in the city. The Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 5,01,32, 000 sold in Guwahati of which IMFL worth Rs 2,56,70,000 was sold on November 4 while alcohol worth Rs 2,44,62,000 was sold on November 5.
The shops were open till late evening
There were also reports that some liquor shops on Thursday operated till late evening. However, the concerned department couldn’t identify the shops. Meanwhile, it is not only liquor which made headlines during the Diwali but also accidents. The immediate changes in the financial condition of the liquor shop owners is surely astonishing.
