A trail of massive destruction is left in Majuli island

Guwahati, 25th July:  A cyclone based storm leaves a trail of massive destruction in Jorhat and meaning neighbouring areas.

A lots of trees and electric poles were uprooted due to this storm

A large number of trees and electric poles were uprooted as a consequence of this dangerous Storm which took place at around 11.30 pm yesterday. Majuli disaster management department informed that several houses were damaged with roofs blown away at Lahonaon, Gayangaon, Nikinikhuwa,Phuloni, Jogigaon, Dakhinpat Salmora under Ujani Majuli Revenue Circle, Meragarh and Sukansuti gaon under Majuli Revenue Circle.

Rescue operations are still going on to help the homeless poor people

The officials informed that rescue operations are still going on to save the affected citizens. The Assam government is very much concerned about the requirements and needs of the affected people and doing its best to protect them.

Continuous soil erosion at Brahmaputra river increased the damage due to the storm

The mighty Brahmaputra river has imposed a massive threat among the common people due to heavy soil erosion causing floods every year. The state government has implemented a scheme to reduce the erosion and deliver a safe life to the citizens.
